BMW GINA Light Visionary Model: Premiere

There are three more videos included in this series: design, geometry&function, concept. It is interesting, but I don't think I feel comfortable at how human-like the car has become. The idea is like a giant oxymoron. However, as a concept, and as an exploration/analysis it is well executed. It is currently at the new BMW musuem in Germany.

Private Aquarium - Ichiro Harada

Landscape architect Ichiro Harada designed and handcrafted this Private Aquarium for tropical fish from acrylic resin plates. It is a 10litre tank with an 11cm width with a built in illuminating lamp...and I am in love. Cylinders span the entire width of the tank acting as a handle for the user to change the viewing angle of the fish. Not only that, but they also help to provide structural resistance to water pressure. If you ask me, I think the four years of development was well worth it.

I discovered this at the Hara Museum shop, and cannot find any more [english] information on the fish tank or the designer. It costs about 20300 Yen.

Parapu Chair - DuraPulp

The Swedish architecture studio Claesson Koivisto Rune came up with this children's chair that is made with a new material called DuraPulp and manufactured by Sodra. It was exhibited at the 2009 Milan Furniture Fair. The most exciting thing isn't so much the form and design of the chair itself but the material used to create it. DuraPulp is a fully compostable (new) paper product created by PulpLab, which is an innovative research lab based in Sweden.

DuraPulp combines paper pulp and PLA (a bioplastic based on maise starch) to create something that contains all the properties of paper but can bear weight, tension, and humidity, as well as temperature changes the way wood, steel, or hard plastic can. Their website has fascinating videos on their project and processes. Don't forget to check out their other ongoing projects!

I found this trailer for the Beatles RockBand game coming out soon. I didn't see it on TV, I don't know who watches TV nowadays. (just kidding...) I found it on YouTube. I enjoyed the illustrations/animations thoughout and I thought it was pretty good, but it wasn't good enough to beat out its competitors (Best of E3 2009 Awards Trailers). Anyway their lanky legs reminded of cowboy bebop.
