Porftolios

It's that time of the year again, when everyone is scrounging for jobs and filling their portfolios with projects to impress the employer. And when you are stuck, on a layout, or colour combination, or composition, what better way is there than to look at what others have done?

Sometimes I check out fffound.com for good layouts and colours
or
carbonmade: an online portfolio service, for mostly visual artists (graphic designers, illustrators, fine arts, etc. There is no Industrial Design category)

enjoy!

I also discovered google reader. Unfortunately, it doesn't capture the little things [that I post here] that pleasantly surprise me when I'm normally browsing, but it does find me a LOT of neat stuff to look at. see mine.

web dump

ok. coolest thing EVER.
http://labs.ideeinc.com/multicolr#
The colourlab by IDEE searches for pictures from flickr by colour. So if you pick red, a slew of red photos in the tone you chose will show up. I think you can pick up to ten different colours.

This blog hasn't been updated in a while, but if you browse through the archive, there are good palattes.

Joseph Joseph

I love everything they have.
I am currently obsessed and in love and awe with everything Joseph Joseph that lines the shelf. The colours are fresh and the products reflect a certain thoughtfulness in the design and consideration of the user -how the product is used, where it is placed for storage, the user's needs, etc.

Measuring Type

This is an interesting project I found (Measuring Type by Matt Robinson and Tom Wrigglesworth). Here, they measured the efficiency of ink for different font types that were commonly used. Kinda neat!
